Payson Utah is located on the south of Provo. The town was originally named, “Peteetneet Creek” after Chief Peteetneet, a Timpanogos Indian chief who lived near Payson’s current location. Later, it was renamed by Brigham Young. The city continued to grow and by the year 1873 a high school was established. Soon the school was closed, due to Brigham Young Academy and an opera house. The City has continued to grow for many years. Still with it’s historical down town and historical sites through out the town.
As the city continues to be a popular place for families, it continues to grow in numbers. In 2016, the population was 19,810. The median income is $59,706 with an average age of 26.
However, the city holds to it’s motto:”Payson: Experience the Many Layers”. Recreational and leisure activities are found within close proximity of the city.
