Lake Point, Utah sits on a passageway, a narrow strip of land between the sharply towering Oquirrh Mountains to the southeast, and the waters of the Great Salt Lake on the north. The City was settled in the year of 1854 by a man named Ezra T. Benson, originally called E.T. City. Later in the year of 1923 it was renamed Lake Point. The US Army sent Captain Howard Stansbury to evaluate emigration trails and to scout out an area for the transcontinental railroad. He had his adobe home built near a prominent rock in the area and it is now known as “Adobe Rock”.
