West Valley, Utah was settled in the year of 1848. A few early settlers decided to cross the River Jordan into a new land, that had yet been established. These early settlers had the desire to start farming communities. They were able to do this within the area and develop a beautiful place to settle. As time would pass, these communities would grow into something even bigger and better.
As the City continued to grow it became extremely popular for families and individuals. One of the largest increases came in the year 2002. The increase in population came from Utah hosting the 2002 Winter Olympic Games. During the Winter Olympic Games it was home to the ice hockey games. This venue is known as the Maverik Center and still hosts many different events such as concerts, Cirque De Soleil and sporting events. Including the Maverik Center many other venues, attractions and activities for all individuals can be found with in the City limits.
Since that time the City has experienced large growth. In 2016 the cities population was over 136,574. This makes it the second largest city in Utah.
