Magna Utah was the first settlement outside of Salt Lake City in the year of 1851. Originally it was known as Pleasant Green, but after awhile was told to change its name because it was to close to Pleasant Grove. The area has been a wonderful place to settle from the beginning. As time continued to move forward, it became a popular place for copper mining in the Oquirrh Mountains.
The development of the city continues to grow each day. In 2010, the population was 26,505. Much of the surrounding area has been taken over by the Kennecott Land Company. The City has been a popular location for film makers. TV shows and movies that have been filmed there include, Halloweentown, Touched by an Angle and Granite Flats.
