Alta Utah is a town in the Salt Lake County. As of 2016, there was a population of 387. It has beautiful scenery all around found on the mountain side. Originally the town was known for silver found in the mountain, but after wildfires and avalanches the settlers in the 1800’s decided building elsewhere may be better for them.
Today the town of Alta is mainly known for the ski resorts located around the town. The resort has an average of 500,000 visitors a year. This location has been very important to the development of skiing in Utah. Because of its location and high altitude the town experiences humidity due to the proximity of the Great Salt Lake.
