Alpine Utah is at the base of the Wasatch Mountains. In 1849, settlers were sent to see what was on the other side of the mountain. The settlers found a small valley. It was covered with sagebrush and a little greasewood. Tall grass grew all around them. Animals such as sheep, horses and cattle soon roamed the valley and the low hills. Some of the settlers decided this part of the valley would make an ideal settlement, since there were two nice streams of water flowing through it. That reached down to the lake. Others found that it was too close to the mountain which may cause heavy snow fall.
Today Alpine is home to over 10,361 people. In 2010, the estimated median household income was $110,819. The city itself isn’t very big. The total area is 7.4 square miles.
The City has many activities each year to support the community. One that is very well known is Alpine Days. People from the community gather together for activities, a parade, races and much more. It is very we attended by the whole of the community and a highlight for many.
